Armenia submits 6,000-page lawsuit against Azerbaijan to UN CourtFebruary 25, 2023 - 12:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has already submitted to the International Court of Justice the main lawsuit against Azerbaijan on charges of racial discrimination, Armenia’s Representative for International Legal Affairs Yeghishe Kirakosyan said in an interview with the Public Television. He noted that the interim measures that the Court applied against Azerbaijan on February 22 (ordering the latter to open the Lachin corridor for people, cargo and transport - Ed.) was based on Armenia’s claim. "The initial claim was filed by us on September 16, 2021, after which the Court gave us until January 23, 2023 to submit the main claim, which we have already done. The volume of the case with all the factual data and evidence we have collected is 6,000 pages," - said Kirakosyan on the PTA air. He explained that it is about decades of propaganda of hatred and racism against Armenia, Armenophobic programs in the field of education, cultural vandalism, falsification of history and so on. Kirakosyan said the situation with the Lachin corridor fits into racial discrimination accusations against Azerbaijan too. "After all, with the closure of the Lachin corridor, the rights of people – ethnic Armenians, who are under the protection of the convention – are violated," he explained. Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia - the Lachin Corridor - has been blocked by self-described Azerbaijani environmentalists. Karabakh residents have reported food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
