Armenia wants Russia’s targeted response to Azerbaijan’s actions

PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone on Monday, March 13 and stressed the importance of a targeted reaction from Russia to Azerbaijan’s attacks on Nagorno Karabakh.

According to a statement from Pashinyan’s office, the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Nagorno Karabakh resulted by Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor was discussed.

“In this context, Prime Minister Pashinyan referred to the terrorist act carried out by Azerbaijan in Nagorno Karabakh on March 5 and its consequences. In the context of overcoming the crisis in Nagorno Karabakh, the Prime Minister of Armenia attached importance to the addressed response of the Russian Federation,” the statement read.

“The sides also exchanged views on the process of normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.”

Issues related to the implementation of the trilateral statements of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan of November 9, 2020, January 11, and November 26, 2021, and October 31, 2022 were discussed.

Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia - the Lachin Corridor - has been blocked by self-described Azerbaijani environmentalists. Karabakh residents have reported food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
