RA President: Armenia never made territorial claims to AzerbaijanApril 24, 2009 - 19:28 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - "Since my entering upon position I had 3 meetings with Azeri President Ilham Aliev. I believe a year is enough for us to understand each other's positions and make our judgments. It's time to expedite the process and head towards decision making," RA President Serzh Sargsyan told when interviewed by Russia Today RF TV Channel.According to RA President, the key issue is NKR people's right for self determination. If the issue is solved other issues will soon be settled either. "I'm glad that recently Azeri authorities started speaking of NKR conflict settlement without preconditions, in accordance with international principles. Azeri president, during his meeting with RF president confirmed that the issue should be solved in accordance with international legislation principles. For many years Baku stipulated for either military settlement of NKR issue or conflict settlement in terms of territorial integrity," Serzh Sargsyan noted. According to RA President, Armenia never made territorial claims to Azerbaijan. "Here we have to deal with distorted views, NKR self determination issue being presented as a territorial demand made by Armenia towards Azerbaijan, which is not true," RA President stressed. Head of RA Government reminded that during recent OSCE Foreign Ministers' summit in Helsinki, 3 conflict settlement principles were set forth: territorial integrity, self-determination right and non-use of force. "That means that by following this principle we've made a significant progress," Serzh Sargsyan stated.
