Armenia, U.S. discuss Karabakh humanitarian situation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States Lilit Makunts had a meeting with Congresswoman Sarah Jacobs (D-California) on Tuesday, July 25, the Armenian Embassy reveals.

During the meeting, the two discussed issues related to Armenia-U.S. bilateral relations, the peace process with Azerbaijan, U.S. engagement therein and the current situation in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) resulting from the blockade of the Lachin corridor.

Weighing on humanitarian issues, the Ambassador handed over to the Congresswoman reports on the Armenian prisoners of war illegally held in Azerbaijan and the consequences blockade of the Lachin corridor.

The corridor is the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakhk to Armenia. It has been blocked since December 12, with Karabakh residents reporting food and fuel shortages. Hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
