French Ambassador to Baku summoned to Foreign Ministry over Macron's remarks

PanARMENIAN.Net - French Ambassador to Baku Anne Boillon was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on Friday, June 30, Trend reports.

“Boillon was summoned to give clarifications regarding the statements of French President Emmanuel Macron about “pressure on Azerbaijan” in connection with the negotiations between Baku and Yerevan. Baku’s position was brought to the ambassador’s attention, which is that Macron’s words published in the Armenian media must be officially confirmed or refuted,” the publication reported.

The French ambassador, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, said she did not have such information on the matter.

At a meeting with the Armenian community of Marseille on June 29, Macron, as reported by the Armenian media, promised to put more pressure on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the issue of normalizing relations with Armenia. “I will continue my efforts, even if I remain almost the only member of the international family with such an agenda,” Macron reportedly said.
