Karabakh: Azerbaijan attempted to impose doctors during ICRC transfers

PanARMENIAN.Net - Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) State Minister Gurgen Nersisyan has revealed what lengths Azerbaijan has gone to to prevent the transfer of patients from Karabakh to Armenia with the help of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

“Azerbaijan's ingenuity knows no bounds. We reached a point when Azerbaijan involved Azerbaijani doctors and set conditions before the Red Cross that patients traveling to Armenia should undergo additional medical examination at the checkpoint,” Nersisyan said.

“These are conditions that are directed against the dignity of our citizens, putting them in an uncomfortable situation. And how does one imagine our citizens to undergo a medical examination by the Azerbaijanis under these conditions? I do not exclude, moreover, I am sure that this process will be done before cameras.”

Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia - the Lachin Corridor - has been blocked by Azerbaijan. Karabakh residents have reported severe food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines.
