Pashinyan: No Armenian will be left in Nagorno-Karabakh in coming days

PanARMENIAN.Net - Analysis shows that no Armenian will be left in Nagorno-Karabakh in the coming days, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, September 28.

“The exodus of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh continues as a result of Azerbaijan’s policy of ethnic cleansing. Analysis shows that no Armenian will be left in Karabakh in the coming days,” Pashinyan said.

“This is a direct act of ethnic cleansing and dispossession, and what we’ve been warning about the international community for a long time now. Statements made by various international actors condemning ongoing ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh are important, but if no concrete actions follow, these statements will only create a moral statistics for history.”

By simply making statements and not taking action, he warned, many countries are trying to have an opportunity to distance themselves from the crime.

On September 19, Azerbaijan launched a military offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh, which left hundreds of Armenians killed and thousands of others displaced. On September 20, the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh agreed to a ceasefire on Azerbaijan’s terms, including the dissolution of the Defense Army. On September 18, President of the Republic of Artsakh Samvel Shahramanyan signed a decree, according to which the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) will cease to exist by January 1, 2024. So far, 66,500 displaced residents have already fled Nagorno-Karabakh and reached Armenia.
