Blinken: U.S. steadfast in helping Armenia achieve economic prosperity![]() April 6, 2024 - 13:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The U.S. remains steadfast in helping Armenia strengthen its democracy and achieve economic prosperity and resilience through regional integration, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement he published on X Friday, April 5. “In a meeting with Armenian and EU leaders, I announced our commitment to provide over $65 million towards this effort,” Blinken wrote after a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. Blinken noted during the meeting that for Armenia, regional integration is a key to security and to prosperity, which are at the heart of Yerevan’s Crossroads of Peace proposal. “We see a more integrated South Caucasus with new transportation routes, energy cooperation, telecommunications. This will promote diversified economies, expanded opportunity, and it will bolster peace and reconciliation efforts. There is a powerful future with a region that is increasingly integrated, that will benefit people in every connected country. And the United States, the European Union want to help you build that,” he said. ![]() ![]() The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington.
