Karabakh to host CIS journalists' football tournament for the first timeMay 8, 2009 - 22:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - For the first time in history, NKR capital Stapenakert is hosting a football tournament of CIS journalists. The tournament, scheduled for 15-18 May, 2009, will be held under the patronage of NKR President Bako Sahkyan, Armenian Foreign Correspondents Association (FCA) and NKR Sports Committee.The journalist commands will arrive from Moscow, Volgograd, Bryansk, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Vilnius and Yerevan. The winners will be awarded cups and memory prizes. Five award categories envisage prizes for the best players including best goal-keeper, best goal-scorer, best fullback and best forward. At the end of tournament, there will be a gala match between the CIS journalists and NKR government and veterans' command. Football matches between CIS journalist commands have a history of 10 years. The first match was organized in St. Petersburg under the patronage of Mayor V. Yakovlev. Later, such matches were organized in Baku, Kishinev, Yerevan, Sochi, Moscow, Odessa, Bryansk and Volgograd. Armenian journalists' team is a one-time champion (2002) and three-time Bronze medal winner.
