Lawmaker: Evacuation of Armenians from Aleppo is unrealistic

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian member of the Syrian parliament Maria Kaprielian has revealed details about the situation in Syria. In a conversation with Pastinfo, Kaprielian said the evacuation of Armenians from Aleppo is unrealistic.

The Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenia announced that the first group of Aleppo Armenians is expected to arrive on December 14.

Kaprielian noted, however, that the flight will depart from Damascus instead of Aleppo, since the airport in the Syrian capital is closed. According to her, it is currently impossible to leave Aleppo. with people who were able to leave Aleppo earlier set to arrive in Armenia.

Syrian rebels have captured Aleppo from President Bashar al-Assad's forces. The city had been under Assad's control since 2016. The rebels said on Thursday, December 5 they had started a push further south into the city of Hama.

The lawmaker said prices of some products in Aleppo have risen, electricity is supplied on a schedule of two hours a day, and the Internet is disrupted.
