PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is commencing negotiations on a nuclear cooperation agreement with the United States, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said Tuesday, January 14.

Mirzoyan made the remarks at the signing ceremony of the Armenia - U.S. Strategic Partnership Charter in Washington.

“It (the nuclear cooperation agreement - Ed.) will provide a framework for cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and mark our commitment to peaceful nuclear development under the highest standards of safety, security, and non-proliferation,” Mirzoyan said.

The Charter officially upgrades relations between Yerevan and Washington to “strategic partnership”, which is expected to deepen ties further in the coming years.
