Mirzoyan: UK softens travel advisories for Armenia![]() January 23, 2025 - 13:28 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, during a Q&A session with the government in parliament, commented on the UK’s advisory urging its citizens to avoid the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. He noted that the UK government has updated and softened its travel warnings for Armenia. The UK government advises its citizens to avoid travel within 5 km of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border due to tensions between the countries. It also specifically warns against using the Noyemberyan-Ijevan M16/H26 highway due to ongoing conflict-related risks. Mirzoyan highlighted that while these warnings were included in previous guidance, earlier strict wording has now been removed. In May 2024, the UK’s advisory warned of potential terrorist attacks in Armenia, urging caution in public places. However, in the updated guidance of January 17, 2025, it now states that while there have been no recent terrorist incidents in Armenia, such risks cannot be entirely ruled out. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
