Iran, Azerbaijan sign cooperation agreement![]() January 23, 2025 - 13:13 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Iran and Azerbaijan have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral relations. The document was signed in Tehran by Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadeghi, and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Shahin Mustafayev, Trend reports. The agreement was concluded during the 16th session of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission, held in Tehran on January 21–22. "The Rasht-Astara railway plays a strategic role in developing the freight corridor between Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia. It will open new opportunities for optimizing transport flows and enhancing cooperation," said Sadeghi. The agreement is set to open new prospects for collaboration, covering areas such as transportation, customs services, energy (oil, gas, electricity), water resource management, preferential trade, and investments. Its goal is to promote the comprehensive development of ties between the two countries. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert. On June 10, Azerbaijani President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will leave for Turkey on a working visit. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Moscow on April 22 to hold talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
