Northern Europe, Baltics support Armenia-EU cooperation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with senior representatives from the parliaments of Northern Europe and the Baltic states, emphasizing that their visit provides an excellent opportunity to expand inter-parliamentary cooperation and discuss regional issues.

The parliamentary representatives from Northern Europe and the Baltics expressed their support for the development of Armenia-EU cooperation and reaffirmed their countries’ readiness to assist Armenia in implementing reforms and strengthening democracy.

Pashinyan highlighted the importance Armenia places on active collaboration and expanding dialogue, which contributes to the strengthening of Armenia-EU relations. He also underscored the EU’s ՞support in advancing democratic reforms in Armenia՞ and reiterated his government’s commitment ՞to effectively implementing an ambitious reform agenda.՞

The discussions addressed the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process and issues related to the potential unblocking of regional transport links.

The European parliamentarians expressed their support for the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace initiative and its principles, as well as Armenia’s broader peace efforts.

On January 9, Armenia’s government approved a draft law to initiate the process of joining the European Union, introduced by the EuroVote civil initiative. The draft will soon be debated in Armenia’s parliament.

The EU will analyze the government-approved draft law on initiating EU accession and discuss the matter with Armenian authorities, according to Anita Hipper, spokesperson for EU external relations and security.
