MEP urges EU not to overlook Turkey’s pressure on Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Member of the European Parliament Nathalie Loiseau has called on the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, to address Turkey's pressure on Armenia and to remain firm in defending European values, Arminfo reports.

Loiseau made this statement on X in response to Kallas’s post about her visit to Turkey.

“Happy to be in Ankara today. Turkey is a strategic partner of the EU, and there are great opportunities to deepen our cooperation. I look forward to substantive discussions with political leaders and civil society to strengthen our ties,” Kaja Kallas wrote.

Commenting on this post, Loiseau stressed the importance of addressing a wide range of issues related to Turkey. She noted in particular: “Kaja Kallas, it’s useful to talk with Ankara. Your duty is to firmly defend the EU’s priorities: the occupation of Northern Cyprus, tensions in relations with Greece, attacks on civilians in Syria that jeopardize the fight against ISIS, and pressure on Armenia. Please, be firm.”
