CIS optimistic about restoring ties with Armenia![]() January 27, 2025 - 17:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev expressed hope that Armenia will soon restore full cooperation within the Commonwealth, despite its decision to refrain from participating in the election observation mission in Belarus. "I sincerely hope that Armenia will return to full-fledged cooperation within the CIS," he told reporters. Lebedev also emphasized that Minsk remains open to collaboration. "Belarus is ready to cooperate," he added, TASS reports. Earlier, Lebedev noted that representatives from Armenia, along with delegations from Moldova and Ukraine, did not take part in observing the Belarusian presidential elections held on January 26. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko visited Azerbaijan from May 15 to 17. During his trip, he toured Nagorno Karabakh and stated that Minsk and Baku share a common vision of peace and the future. The President also offered support for post-conflict reconstruction in Karabakh. In response, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Armenian officials would not visit Belarus "as long as Lukashenko is President there." ![]() ![]() The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington.
