Russian ambassador summoned to Azerbaijani MFA

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on January 28.

According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting addressed concerns over “misinformation spread by Russian media and certain officials, which, according to Baku, presents Azerbaijan in a negative light.” The ministry stated that such publications contradict the essence and spirit of the Declaration on Allied Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia.

Additionally, it was announced that the preliminary investigation into the AZAL plane crash has been completed. The ministry emphasized that Azerbaijan expects a clear position from Russia on this matter as the investigation progresses.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also commented on local media reports regarding the Russian House, clarifying that this information does not reflect the official stance of the Azerbaijani government. It was underlined that the activities of such organizations in Azerbaijan must comply with the principle of reciprocity and adhere to national legislation.

On January 7, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin summoned Azerbaijani Ambassador Rahman Mustafayev. Galuzin stressed the importance of building Russian-Azerbaijani relations based on "strategic partnership and allied spirit," referencing the high-level declaration signed on February 22, 2022. In this context, Russia expressed concern over recent anti-Russian publications in Azerbaijani media and an alleged disinformation campaign against the Russian House in Baku.
