RA NA speaker denies controversial statement about Russia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Movses Harutyunyan, spokesperson for National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, denied media reports that Simonyan allegedly stated in a meeting with Baltic parliamentarians that “Russia should be crushed, defeated, and disappear.”

He called these reports false and said they do not reflect reality.

"The claims published in Zhoghovurd newspaper and spread by the media that Alen Simonyan supposedly declared during a meeting with Baltic lawmakers that Russia should be crushed, defeated, and disappear for the benefit of us and the Baltic states are false and do not correspond to reality," the statement reads.

According to Harutyunyan, discussions at the meeting and the entire conference focused on regional developments and Armenia’s democratic progress.

"The Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly has not made such a statement at any meeting. The agendas of all meetings are public, and recordings are available. We are currently considering legal action to refute this false claim," he added.
