According to reports, an American Airlines regional passenger jet with 64 people on board collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan Washington National Airport. The collision resulted in both aircraft crashing into the Potomac River. Rescue operations are ongoing, with authorities fearing that all individuals on board may have perished.

The incident occurred as the passenger jet, en route from Wichita, Kansas, was approaching Reagan National Airport for landing. The helicopter was reportedly on a training flight at the time of the collision. The exact cause of the accident is under investigation by the Pentagon.

Among the passengers were Russian former world ice skating champions Yevgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, as well as several U.S. ice skaters, family members, and coaches returning from a camp following figure skating championships in Wichita.
