Azerbaijan destroys neighborhoods in Stepanakert

PanARMENIAN.Net - Saroyan Street in Stepanakert has been completely looted and is being demolished by Azerbaijanis. Homes, including the section leading to Alek Manukyan Street—an entire neighborhood—are being torn down. This was reported by the Telegram channel Mountains of Karabakh, which also released footage of the destruction.

This marks the third instance of Azerbaijani forces razing occupied Stepanakert’s buildings, flattening entire sections of the city.

Previously, Tumanyan and Tigran Mets Avenues were also demolished by Azerbaijanis.

On September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack on Artsakh, subjecting the region to intense artillery shelling. As a result, on September 20, Artsakh’s authorities accepted a ceasefire proposed by the Russian peacekeeping command, agreeing to Baku’s terms, which included the disarmament of the Artsakh Defense Army and the dissolution of the Republic of Artsakh. From September 24, the forced displacement of Artsakh Armenians began, with over 100,000 people forcibly relocated to Armenia. According to some reports, only around 20 Armenians remain in Artsakh. On September 28, Artsakh’s President Samvel Shahramanyan signed a decree dissolving the republic, which came into effect on January 1, 2024.
