Iran-Armenia cooperation, regional security discussed in Tehran

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s ambassador to Iran, Grigor Hakobyan, met with Mohammad Ahadi, Iran’s deputy chief of staff for international affairs. The two officials discussed Armenia-Iran bilateral cooperation across various sectors and regional developments.

According to the Armenian Embassy in Iran, the high-ranking Iranian military official reaffirmed Tehran’s clear and unwavering stance on Armenia’s territorial integrity.

“Brigadier General Mohammad Ahadi congratulated Grigor Hakobyan on his appointment as ambassador and emphasized that within Iran’s policy of strengthening relations with neighbors, ties with Armenia hold particular importance.

Ambassador Hakobyan, in turn, presented Armenia’s efforts toward regional peace and stability, highlighting the deepening of relations with neighboring and friendly Iran as a key priority,” the statement said.

Earlier, Iran’s ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, stated that while Iran does not oppose the unblocking of communications in the South Caucasus, it insists that this must be done in full respect of national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also noted that Iran is the only country in the region that fully shares Armenia’s position on the so-called corridor issue.
