Mirzoyan honors Nansen’s legacy during Norway visit

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, during his official visit to Norway, visited the Fridtjof Nansen Institute on February 7.

According to the press office of Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mirzoyan left a note in the institute’s guestbook, stating: "Nansen’s legacy and his humanitarian efforts to ensure the survival of thousands of Armenians remain an unparalleled act of humanity, which Armenia will never forget. As we continue strengthening Armenian-Norwegian ties, we remain committed to the principles of human dignity, solidarity, and moral responsibility that Nansen so passionately advocated and embodied."

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the exceptional significance of Nansen’s support for Armenians who survived the Armenian Genocide, as well as the deep respect for his work in both Armenia and Norway.

Discussions also covered prospects for expanding cooperation with the institute, including strengthening academic ties and exploring new avenues for knowledge exchange. Special attention was given to joint programs in the context of Armenia hosting the UN Biodiversity Conference.

As part of his visit, Mirzoyan toured the institute and laid a wreath at the grave of the renowned Norwegian humanist and scientist.
