Baku court proceeds with Ruben Vardanyan's trial

PanARMENIAN.Net - On February 10, the trial of former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan is set to continue in Baku. He faces severe charges that could lead to a life sentence.

In the previous session, the reading of the indictment's final part began. However, due to its extensive length, the court decided to continue the reading in the next session.

In his January 16 statement, Vardanyan declared that since his arrest, he has provided no testimony beyond stating his name and that all protocols bearing his signature are falsified.

Attorney Siranush Sahakyan, representing Armenian captives at the European Court of Human Rights, shared details from Vardanyan's trial, conveyed by the local attorney to Vardanyan's family. She noted that the defense challenged the translator due to significant errors.

Sahakyan observed that from the published sections of the indictment, it becomes evident that the trial aims to delegitimize Artsakh's right to self-determination and to portray all efforts toward self-determination as criminal activities. The prosecution attempts to depict these actions as "criminal activities aimed at territorial seizure."
