Conference in French Senate discusses Artsakh Armenians' return

PanARMENIAN.Net - The "Concert for Peace in Armenia" initiative organized a conference in the French Senate titled "The Armenian people and their right to return to their lands," Azg reports.

Marie-Do Aeschlimann, a senator and member of the France-Armenia Friendship Group, stated that the goal was to place Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) at the center of the debate. Former International Criminal Court (ICC) Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo was also present.

The conference addressed the "right of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians to a safe return" and "recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh", as well as ways in which the French Senate could support this movement alongside the Armenian community.

In September 2023, the French Senate adopted a resolution condemning Azerbaijan’s military attack on Nagorno-Karabakh and calling for European-level sanctions against Azerbaijani officials, as well as measures to prevent further aggression against Armenia’s territorial integrity.

In the fall of 2022, the Senate passed another resolution urging the imposition of sanctions on Azerbaijan and demanding its immediate withdrawal from Armenian territory in accordance with the November 9, 2020 ceasefire agreement.
