Armenia, EU review visa facilitation agreement progress

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) held a working meeting with the European Union (EU) delegation to discuss the implementation of the visa facilitation agreement. The meeting was attended by representatives from the MFA's Consular Department and the European Department’s EU Division, along with members of the EU delegation.

During the discussions, participants examined the execution of the Armenia-EU visa facilitation agreement. Additionally, they reviewed the consular functions carried out by the Armenian MFA and the country’s diplomatic missions abroad.

The EU delegation included officials from various EU directorates, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex), and representatives of EU member states. Their visit to Armenia, scheduled for February 10-14, is part of the Armenia-EU visa liberalization dialogue.

The primary goal of this visit is to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Armenia’s preparedness in areas such as document security, border management, migration processes, and related sectors. The findings will contribute to the development of an action plan for the Armenia-EU visa liberalization dialogue.

On January 9, the Armenian government approved a proposal to initiate the EU accession process, introduced by the Eurovote civil initiative. The proposal is set for parliamentary debate.
