EDUARDO ERNEKIAN INTENDS TO CONSTRUCT NEW AIRPORT BUILDING IN YEREVANJune 10, 2002 - 23:18 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Eduardo Ernekian Argentinean businessman, who yesterday assumed trust management of "Zvartnots" Yerevan international airport, intends to turn the present airport building into a trade center. According to the information of "De-Facto" agency, on the basis of the second corps, where VIP saloon is located, a new airport fitting the international standards will be built. Construction works are planned to finish in three years. Until 2014 the volume of passenger transportation is expected to increase two million persons annually. The company plans to reach economic efficiency level in 12-13 years. Passing land lots and capital facilities adjoining the airport, which will be bought from their present owners at the market price, to Ernekian is also planned. The airport new leadership intends to change the composition and the number of the personnel, which, in their opinion, is too large. 700 workers of the staff are already reduced. They will receive dismissal pay equal to the two months' salary. Meanwhile, Eduardo Ernekian controls 33 international airports. The share of "Corporasion America" company owned by him covers 90% of all air carriage in Argentina. The company also shows interest to privatization of "Armenian Airlines" company.
