John van’t Schip named Armenia national football team coach![]() February 17, 2025 - 19:06 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - John van’t Schip, a 61-year-old Dutch coach, has been appointed as the head coach of Armenia’s national football team, the Armenian Football Federation (FFA) announced. His assistant coach will be Aron Winter, a former Dutch national team player. FFA President Armen Melikbekyan introduced van’t Schip to the Executive Committee, which approved his candidacy. He will officially assume his duties on March 1, 2025, under a 1+1 contract format. Van’t Schip was born on December 30, 1963. During his playing career, he represented the Netherlands in 41 matches, scoring two goals. His club career included: -Ajax (Netherlands), 1981-1992 – 273 matches, 29 goals -Genoa (Italy), 1992-1996 – 107 matches, 11 goals As a player, he won the 1988 UEFA European Championship with the Netherlands and achieved multiple titles with Ajax, including: -Dutch Champion (4 times) – 1981-82, 1982-83, 1984-85, 1989-90 -Dutch Cup (3 times) – 1982-83, 1985-86, 1986-87 -UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1986-87) -UEFA Cup (1991-92) His coaching career includes managing Ajax and Greece’s national team. He also served as assistant coach for the Netherlands under Marco van Basten.
