Iceland backs Armenia’s European integration efforts![]() February 26, 2025 - 11:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On February 25, during a working visit to Geneva, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Icelandic Foreign Minister Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir to discuss Armenia-Iceland relations, European cooperation, and the importance of preserving democratic values. In a post on X, the Icelandic Foreign Minister emphasized that Iceland supports Armenia’s European aspirations and the expansion of their partnership. The ministers explored prospects for expanding political dialogue, enhancing cooperation on various platforms, and upcoming potential visits, according to Armenia’s Foreign Ministry. "The dynamic deepening of cooperation with Nordic-Baltic countries reflects the importance we place on this framework. We are committed to fully utilizing the available opportunities for both bilateral and regional cooperation," Mirzoyan stated. The Armenian minister also briefed his Icelandic counterpart on Armenia-EU partnership developments, underlining the significance of sharing experiences and strengthening capacities with Iceland as a close EU partner. Discussions also covered international and regional developments. Both sides emphasized the need to uphold fundamental norms of international law and cooperate within a shared value system. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
