Red Cross representatives visit Armenian prisoners in Baku

PanARMENIAN.Net - Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have visited Armenian prisoners unlawfully held in Baku, providing them the opportunity to contact their families. This was confirmed by Zara Amatuni, head of communication programs at the ICRC delegation, as reported by Sputnik Armenia.

The meetings were conducted in a private setting.

The previous ICRC visit to the detainees took place in January 2025.

Official Baku acknowledges holding 23 Armenian prisoners, 17 of whom were taken to Azerbaijan in September 2023 following its military aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh. Among them are former political and military leaders of Artsakh, including ex-state minister and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan, former Defense Army commander Levon Mnatsakanyan, former deputy commander Davit Manukyan, ex-foreign minister Davit Babayan, and Nagorno-Karabakh National Assembly Speaker Davit Ishkhanyan. Additionally, former Artsakh presidents Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and Arayik Harutyunyan remain in captivity.
