Armenia, EU review progress on visa liberalization process![]() February 27, 2025 - 15:42 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, met with the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Vassilis Maragos, on February 26 to discuss the visa liberalization process. The EU ambassador praised the efforts made during the first evaluation mission, both in terms of organization and content. The parties identified the necessary steps for preparing for the second evaluation mission. Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the European Union for its support in the ministry’s reforms and its subordinate services. Maragos emphasized the strong cooperation with Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and reaffirmed the EU’s readiness to continue and expand its support for the reform process. The meeting also covered the progress of ongoing reforms within the ministry and its subordinate agencies, highlighting achieved results and planned joint steps. At the end of the meeting, the parties outlined future cooperation directions and upcoming actions to ensure the effective implementation of reforms. On February 12, Armenia’s National Assembly approved in the first reading a bill to launch the EU accession process. The government had endorsed the initiative, proposed by the Eurovote civic movement, on January 9. The bill is set for further discussion in the Armenian parliament. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
