Armenia distributes tax-free quota for EV imports

PanARMENIAN.Net - The State Revenue Committee of Armenia has released data on the distribution of the import duty exemption quota for electric vehicles in 2025.

According to the committee, based on Decision No. 134 of the Eurasian Economic Commission Council dated November 24, 2023, a quota of 8,000 electric vehicles (classified under AHTN code 8703 80 000 2) has been set for duty-free import in 2025. This quota was distributed by the Armenian government under Decision No. 1876-N on November 28, 2024, as follows:

  • Up to 3,000 electric vehicles can be imported by dealers and distributors operating under direct agreements with automakers.
  • Up to 5,000 electric vehicles are allocated for all other importers, including individuals, who do not fall into the first category.

As of March 2, 2025, the committee reports that the duty-free quota has been utilized as follows:

  • 466 vehicles (15.5% of the 3,000-vehicle quota) were imported by authorized dealers and distributors with direct agreements with manufacturers.
  • 4,818 vehicles (96.4% of the 5,000-vehicle quota) were imported by other entities not included in the first category.
