Swiss parliament to address return of displaced Armenians![]() March 11, 2025 - 15:00 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Switzerland’s Council of States is set to hold discussions on March 18 regarding the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and ensuring the return of forcibly displaced Armenians. This information was published on the official website of the Swiss Parliament, as reported by Armenpress. Earlier, in December 2024, the lower house of Parliament, the National Council, adopted a resolution urging the Swiss government to initiate an international peace conference dedicated to the conflict. The resolution states that the proposed conference aims to "facilitate dialogue between representatives of Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians regarding the safe and collective return of the Armenian population under international oversight or presence." On September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack on Artsakh, subjecting the entire region to intense shelling. As a result, on September 20, the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh accepted a ceasefire proposal from the Russian peacekeeping command, agreeing to Baku’s terms, including the disarmament of the Defense Army and the dissolution of the Republic of Artsakh. From September 24, a mass forced displacement of Artsakh Armenians began, with over 100,000 people fleeing to Armenia. According to reports, only about 20 Armenians remain in Artsakh.
