Criminal charges to be filed against two Armenian MPs![]() March 12, 2025 - 15:46 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has officially submitted a request to the National Assembly to initiate criminal prosecution against MPs Hovik Aghazaryan and Taron Margaryan. The requests have been published on the parliament’s website. The National Assembly approved the motion presented by Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan, reports Irakanum.am . Aghazaryan is accused of accepting particularly large bribes and using real or perceived influence over officials. Taron Margaryan, a member of the opposition "I Have Honor" faction, faces charges of large-scale money laundering, abuse of power by an official, and illegal seizure of state or municipal land. The parliament’s approval enables law enforcement agencies to continue their investigation. According to parliamentary regulations, a motion to initiate criminal prosecution or detain an MP can be reviewed during a regular or extraordinary session. The next regular session is scheduled for March 25. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
