Velkamp pledges continued efforts for Armenian captives release

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, Caspar Velkamp stated during a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan that he will continue to raise the issue of Armenian prisoners in Baku.

When asked whether tougher measures should be applied against the Aliyev regime—given that trials of Armenian detainees in Azerbaijan take place under authoritarian conditions without media or human rights observers—Velkamp emphasized the necessity of ensuring their right to a fair trial, reports Factor.am .

Responding to another question regarding the strategic document signed with Armenia, Velkamp clarified that the agreement between the Netherlands and Armenia does not involve military cooperation.

Armenia’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement reaffirming its efforts to draw international attention to the release of Armenian prisoners, hostages, and detainees in Azerbaijan. The ministry also condemned the ongoing staged trials, marked by serious legal violations and signs of torture. Ruben Vardanyan has been on hunger strike for over 20 days.
