Tandilyan to UN: no more time to watch, take action

PanARMENIAN.Net - During a protest near the UN office in Armenia, Mane Tandilyan, co-founder of the Country to Live party, criticized international organizations for limiting themselves to statements without taking concrete actions.

She highlighted that trials in Baku are conducted secretly, questioning Azerbaijan's classification of these proceedings as internal matters when Armenian citizens are involved. Tandilyan called on the UN to demand representation at these trials and to implement sanctions against Azerbaijan, particularly in the oil and gas sectors.

Political activist Menua Soghomonyan noted that the Armenian government is not exerting sufficient efforts for the release of Armenian prisoners in Baku. He emphasized the importance of the recent European Parliament resolution, which states that holding prisoners of war as hostages is a crime under international law.

Tandilyan urged Armenian citizens to take active measures and demand concrete steps from international organizations. She also called on the diaspora to hold protests in front of Azerbaijani embassies.

Since January 17, Azerbaijan has been conducting trials against former political and military leaders of Artsakh, including ex-presidents Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Arayik Harutyunyan, former defense army commander Levon Mnatsakanyan, former foreign minister Davit Babayan, among others. The case of former state minister Ruben Vardanyan is being examined separately, despite his request to merge it with the general proceedings.
