No stability without peace treaty, Aliyev says![]() March 15, 2025 - 12:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in an interview with Euronews during the 12th Global Baku Forum, stated that only the Karabakh conflict can be considered resolved. He also emphasized that there will be no stability until a peace treaty is signed, according to Minval.az . Aliyev noted that nearly five years after the Second Karabakh War, Azerbaijan and Armenia have still not signed a peace treaty. "Yes, we live in a period of peace, there are no more casualties, and this is a great advantage of the current situation. But until a peace treaty is signed, there will be no stability," Aliyev stated. He added that he does not expect stability to be established in the coming months or even years. "I prefer to be realistic. I don't think we will achieve stability in the coming months or even years. And if we talk about the war between Russia and Ukraine, even if it ends, that does not guarantee it won't reignite. Between Armenia and us, a ceasefire agreement was in place for nearly thirty years, signed in the spring of 1994. But that did not mean the war was over. It had simply changed its form. A war only truly ends with the signing of a peace treaty," Aliyev said. The Armenian Foreign Ministry has announced that it has accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on two previously disputed articles, stating that the peace agreement is ready for signing. Armenia is prepared to start consultations on the timing and location of the signing. Meanwhile, Baku has introduced new preconditions and said it is too early to discuss meeting dates. ![]() ![]() The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington.
