Armenia boosts metal production with subsidies

PanARMENIAN.Net - Companies operating in Armenia will receive preferential conditions for producing metal items from local raw materials, including molds and semi-finished products.

According to a decision adopted at today’s government session, enterprises engaged in such production will be eligible for a 10% subsidy on industrial loans, reports Sputnik Armenia.

In recent years, the country’s metallurgical sector has developed based on the recycling of scrap metal. Although the export of scrap metal is prohibited, the export of cast metal molds continues.

Currently, most metallurgical production focuses on rebar for construction. However, the government aims to expand the production of more technologically advanced products such as cables, wires, and radiators.

As part of efforts to promote local raw material processing, the government will grant special incentives to companies using molds and semi-finished products for further processing. Around $1.5 million has been allocated for this program in 2025.

According to official estimates, metallurgical enterprises have already invested over $100 million in sector development.
