Armenia, Turkey agree on aid corridor to Syria![]() March 21, 2025 - 14:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia and Turkey have agreed on the logistical arrangements for delivering humanitarian aid to Syria via a land corridor, according to the Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan, as reported by RFE/RL. Following a decision by the Armenian government, the Margara Bridge border crossing between Armenia and Turkey, closed for 32 years, will reopen for 10 days starting March 21 to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Syria. A similar step was taken in 2023, when Armenia sent 100 tons of humanitarian cargo to Turkey via the Margara Bridge. In July 2022, during the fourth round of Armenian-Turkish special envoy talks in Vienna, both sides agreed to open the land border for third-country nationals as soon as possible. As part of this arrangement, Armenia renovated the Margara crossing at a cost of around 1 billion drams. However, nearly two years later, it remains unclear when the agreement will be fully implemented. Turkish officials have repeatedly stated that the border could only reopen if there is positive progress in Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations, stressing that the normalization processes between Armenia and Turkey and between Armenia and Azerbaijan are interconnected. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
