Papikyan: Azerbaijan shows no proof of shooting claims![]() March 21, 2025 - 16:10 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan has responded to repeated disinformation spread by Azerbaijan alleging that Armenian forces have opened fire on Azerbaijani positions in various border areas. Papikyan emphasized that to date, Azerbaijan has failed to present any evidence supporting these claims. During a conversation with journalists in parliament, when asked why Armenia does not provide counter-evidence to disprove Azerbaijan’s allegations, Papikyan replied, “What are we supposed to prove about something that didn’t happen?” as reported by Armenpress. “Since we are not the ones making accusations—our neighbors are—we say: if you have evidence, videos, share them with us. We are ready to review and investigate. So far, we haven’t received any such responses. And again, what exactly are we supposed to prove if it didn’t happen?” he said. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense has recently issued multiple false statements claiming that Armenian Armed Forces fired at Azerbaijani positions along different sections of the border. The Armenian side has officially denied these accusations, stating they do not reflect reality. On March 17, the latest such statement from Baku was also addressed by the European Union Monitoring Mission in Armenia. Observers said they had conducted patrols on March 16 and 17 in several border areas and confirmed that the situation remained stable and calm, with no unusual activity or tension observed. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
