Yerevan seeks deeper EU defense cooperation through new proposal![]() March 24, 2025 - 15:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has submitted a second application to access the European Peace Facility for 2025, Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan announced during an extraordinary session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on European Integration. "The European Peace Facility represents a very specific and tangible initiative in the defense sector. We have already filed a second request for 2025 and are actively working with the Ministry of Defense," the deputy minister stated. He emphasized that the European Union has evolved into a more influential partner for Armenia in the security field, according to Armenpress. Hovhannisyan added that Armenia and the EU have already launched a political and security dialogue, with two sessions held to date. "We are exploring new frameworks for more active cooperation on defense and security issues. That’s why, for the first time, the upcoming partnership agenda allocates a substantial portion to security, with a dedicated chapter," he said. He also noted that the EU is currently engaged in intensive discussions on strengthening its internal security policy, which opens up new opportunities for Armenia to expand cooperation in this area. Previously, Armenia received €10 million in support from the European Peace Facility to build a modular field camp, which will include a medical station and essential services and capabilities. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
