PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan denied suggestions of unilateral concessions from Armenia as “absurd” and “unserious,” emphasizing that any peace agreement must apply equally to both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“This is absurd, unserious. Those making such claims should come, face me, and try to justify what they say,” Simonyan stated, as reported by Aysor.am.

He highlighted that the terms outlined in the peace agreement draft are meant to apply to both sides.

“For example, if the text says the Armenian side must capitulate, then the Azerbaijani side must also capitulate,” he added.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has previously said that the draft peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has already been agreed upon and awaits final signing. He invited the Azerbaijani president to initiate consultations on formalizing the signed draft.

On March 13, Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced it had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals regarding two previously unresolved articles, declaring the agreement ready for signing. Yerevan stated it is ready to begin talks on the timing and venue for signing. Baku, however, introduced new preconditions and said it is too early to discuss a meeting date.
