MP draws parallels between Pashinyan and Vazgen Sargsyan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Independent MP Hovik Aghazaryan, in a conversation with journalists, reflected on his past inclusion in the Civil Contract party list, stating that at that time, Nikol Pashinyan was not the same person he is today.

"The Nikol Pashinyan of that time was not today's Nikol Pashinyan; back then, Alen Simonyan, Arayik Harutyunyan, and others were not much different from Nikol Pashinyan. They also had their own reputations, and I, as a person, had a certain reputation," he said in response to a question about why he had previously run as part of the Civil Contract, Pastinfo reports.

"Later, they constantly pushed me back, implying that I should behave ‘properly’, but I didn't and won't," he added.

When reminded by a journalist about his previous statement comparing Pashinyan to Jesus, Aghazaryan responded that he had never made such a comparison.

"I said that when I, an unbeliever, met Pashinyan, I started to believe that Jesus existed. But now I will compare Nikol Pashinyan to Vazgen Sargsyan, more precisely, to Vazgen. I knew two Vazgen Sargsyans: one was the bright, brilliant guy who rose to fight for the homeland, and the second was the statesman Vazgen who declared that even if Vazgen Manukyan gathered 100% of the votes, we wouldn't let him come to power. That was the same as when the Prime Minister said that he instructed the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council to resign; these are identical situations. What happened to Vazgen Sargsyan? He was killed. Let's see what happens here," he stated.

The National Assembly is considering the Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan's motion to initiate criminal proceedings against MP Hovik Aghazaryan.
