“The Brat” named best play at Artavazd 2025 Theater Awards

PanARMENIAN.Net - Winners of the Artavazd 2025 Theater Awards have been announced, highlighting this year’s standout productions and performances.

The Best Production of the Year award went to “The brat”, said the Sos Sargsyan National Theater. The play is based on Sos Sargsyan’s novella of the same name. It recounts a true story of great love, where the protagonists fall victim to betrayal and the Stalin regime. The narrative also explores the difficult journey of individual self-realization and moral integrity.

The play was directed by Andranik Mikayelyan and Narine Grigoryan.

In the Best Children’s Production category, the award went to the play “Are you angry?”. “Man in a palm” was named Best Youth Production.

Varsham Gevorgyan was awarded Best Actor of the Year, while Milena Ghazaryan received the Best Young Actress award.

Armen Shahinyan won Best Original Music, and the Best Theatrical Essay award was presented to Ani Harutyunyan.

In protest, director Sargis Arzumanyan, chairman of the board of the Goy Theater, returned his 2018 Artavazd Award for Best Young Director, which he received for his staging of George Orwell’s “Animal Farm.”
