iran, Armenia to expand defense, security cooperation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Iran and Armenia are prepared to deepen their cooperation in arms supply, intelligence sharing, and other aspects of security, according to Pouya Hosseini, head of the "Armenia-Iran Cooperation Development" foundation. Speaking to journalists on April 3, Hosseini stressed the willingness of both sides to strengthen strategic collaboration, reports Auroranews.am .

"Iran is ready to support Armenia. Third parties, including Western countries, that hinder our relations should not interfere," Hosseini stated.

He also noted a significant boost in bilateral economic relations. Trade turnover between Armenia and Iran has now reached $700 million, up from $300 million. The two countries aim to first increase this figure to $1 billion, with a long-term goal of reaching $3 billion.

Earlier, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi welcomed the finalization of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing its regional importance.
