Аliyev: we expect constitutional changes from Armenia![]() April 9, 2025 - 16:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that if a peace agreement is signed between Baku and Yerevan, there will be no further obstacles to launching bilateral cooperation. However, he reiterated Azerbaijan’s demands toward Armenia. He made these remarks during an international forum titled “Towards a New World Order.” “I believe we must not waste time, because, as I’ve said before, the ball is in Armenia’s court regarding the peace agreement. I have repeatedly and publicly declared what we expect from Armenia in terms of our territorial integrity and their Constitution,” Aliyev said, according to APA. Aliyev’s list of demands did not end there. He also once again voiced dissatisfaction with what he called Armenia’s “large-scale militarization.” According to Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s military actions—including the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War, the operation in September 2023, and the subsequent strengthening of its defense capabilities—are “completely logical and justified.” “Especially considering the ongoing process of Armenia’s extensive militarization. The deadly weapons being supplied to Armenians by their new allies do not contribute to peace and stability. They will only cause potential future tensions,” he added. Azerbaijan’s President also declared during a joint press conference with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier that Azerbaijan’s demands are well known to Armenia, including the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and amendments to Armenia’s Constitution, which allegedly contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan. ![]() ![]() The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington.
