President Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijan will not comply with rulings by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). He made the remarks during an international forum titled “Towards a new world order.” According to him, this decision stems from the suspension of Azerbaijan’s delegation rights in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), as reported by Haqqin.az . “If our delegation does not attend PACE sessions and cannot vote during the election of ECHR judges, then that court’s rulings regarding Azerbaijan are invalid. We have been stripped of our voting rights. We did not vote for these judges and don’t even know who they are,” Aliyev stated. In January 2024, PACE declined to ratify the Azerbaijani delegation's credentials. The resolution was supported by 90 members, opposed by 76, with four abstentions.
