RA spy agency silent on reports of Azerbaijani buildup![]() April 10, 2025 - 11:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS) has refused to comment on reports of Azerbaijani troop buildups along the border, Sputnik Armenia reports. In recent days, social media and news outlets have circulated information about Azerbaijani military forces and equipment being amassed and relocated in various sections of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. "The information collected by the Foreign Intelligence Service is classified, and therefore we are not authorized to share it with you," reads a response provided by the service’s head, Kristinne Grigoryan. The agency recommended monitoring official announcements issued by the Armenian Ministry of Defense. The media outlet also submitted a written inquiry asking how the FIS assesses the likelihood of new military actions by Azerbaijan in the current period or in the coming months. However, no response was provided on that question either. On March 21, Kristinne Grigoryan stated in a media briefing that there is currently no concrete data pointing to an imminent Azerbaijani attack, but emphasized that the situation could shift rapidly and that the agency remains vigilant. Over the past month, Armenia’s Ministry of Defense has repeatedly denied Azerbaijan’s claims that Armenian forces opened fire at Azerbaijani positions. Meanwhile, gunfire continues to be reported from Azerbaijani positions, sometimes targeting Armenian territory. For example, on March 31, gunfire from the Azerbaijani side caused damage to a residential house in the village of Khnatsakh in Syunik Province. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
