Yerevan to host Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV![]() April 11, 2025 - 16:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan will host the Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV from April 13 to 19, featuring teams from Armenia, Iran, Kuwait, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan. The championship will take place at the city’s Youth Figure Skating and Ice Hockey Sports School. Fifteen games are scheduled, with Armenia’s national team participating after a 15-year break. The event details were discussed in a press conference attended by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan, and Secretary General of the Hockey Federation of Armenia Aram Sargsyan. Mayor Avinyan highlighted the significance of Armenia’s return to international competition, noting progress in the sport, including the launch of a hockey league in 2023 and the training of around 80 young athletes by professional coaches. He also emphasized the development of infrastructure: “We’ve made certain adjustments to our youth sports school’s facilities, in cooperation with the Ministry, to meet the standards of this tournament.
