Sarkissian denies Iran’s ex-FM claim about message to Aliyev![]() April 11, 2025 - 18:42 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The office of Armenia’s fourth president Armen Sarkissian has denied statements made by former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who claimed that Sarkissian asked him to pass a message to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during a private conversation. According to Zarif’s interview, following an extended meeting, Sarkissian privately told him: “28 years ago, we were strong and Azerbaijan was weak. We took Karabakh, humiliated you, and refused to negotiate. We humiliated you for 28 years and now this is our fate. Do not repeat our mistake.” However, Sarkissian’s office responded in a statement published by Aravot.am , saying: “The remarks attributed to Armenia’s fourth president, Armen Sarkissian, and circulating in the media are distorted interpretations that misrepresent the true nature of the conversation.” ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
