A 28-year-old man named Ismayil Adir, who had gone missing in Turkey’s Iğdır province near the Armenian border, has been found dead in the Aras River, according to Turkish media.
Search operations were launched after it was suspected that Adir had fallen into the river while attempting to illegally cross the border between Armenia and Turkey. Diving teams from the gendarmerie command in Van province participated in the operation, reports Factor.am .
Eventually, the young man's body was found in the river. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
Earlier, Turkish media reported that four men had attempted to cross the Armenia-Turkey border illegally in Iğdır. One of them, 28-year-old Ismayil Adir, went missing during the attempt. Following a report from his companions, Turkish gendarmerie and Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) units arrived at the scene.
